Last night's meeting addressed a number of important issues facing the neighbors of the Claremont-Elmwood Neighborhood Association. I was impressed by them, though not surprised to learn that they are the largest neighborhood association in Berkeley.
Dean Metzger, the current President, touched on something near and dear to our hearts at rBlock -- the need for association members to share their news and views on major issues that often gain strength in one direction or another, before they are deliberated on by the Council. It is both critical and efficient for majority viewpoints to coalesce around issues that then percolate up to the Council. This, I think, was Dean's point. Unfortunately, current web-communities and social networking models simply cannot address this challenge, but I am quite certain that it will be well-served by our location-based web platform.
Finally, thank you CENA for the opportunity to present some slides on public safety and emergency preparedness.
